The Dream and History of Luxury Watches

Whether it is the cars we drive or the watches we wear, all of them started with an idea and a dream. Whether it was by accident or planned, there is no way that the creators of technology could have imagined that their initial designs would have blossomed into the amazing products that we have today.

The next time you look at your watch realize that Peter Henlein invented the first pocket watch in Nuremberg, Germany. It wasn't very accurate, which is sort of ironic since Germans are known for their accuracy. While this was the first portable watch, it was not the first wristwatch.

The first wristwatch was worn and created by the French mathematician and philosopher, Blaise Pascal. He simply attached string to his pocket watch, and, Walla, a future industry was created. So the next time, you I look to see what time it is on your Breitling chronometer, or whatever timepiece it is that you wear, know that the foundation for it was built by a man in Germany who took his clock with him wherever he went. Even though he was probably always either too late or too early for most of his appointments, no doubt he was the talk of whatever meeting he did attend with his portable watch. So it might be safe to say he was the first person to create a buzz with the timepiece that he was carting around. Moreover, go figure a mathematician and philosopher from France who probably was just too lazy to take his pocket watch out of his pocket, created one of the largest industries in the world. Of course this is in jest and these men were pioneers of their day.

So why is it important to know the history of your designer watch and the background of watches in general? With so many watches out there to choose from it can be very confusing. Do you buy a chronometer? How does that chronometer stack up against that simple Swatch which recently caught your attention? Learn for what purposes those three little dials that you have never quite figured out how to use, were really intended. You probably wouldn't by a car without looking under the hood, why not do the same with your timepiece?

Now that we know who created the first watch, maybe next time we will find out which companies were the first to capitalize on it.

Luxury Watches have become a symbol of fashion for over 100 years. For more information about purchasing a watch please visit the Watches on Net Website.

What Kind of Timepiece Should I Buy?

I love watches and love buying watches even more. Whenever I buy a watch I always find myself struggling to decide which watch I should get. I have come up with a few guidelines I use to help me decide on the best watch for my needs.

• How am I going to use the watch or, what is the main purpose for my new watch? Do I need a dress watch, casual, sport, dive, or pilot watch? This is the most important step to narrowing down the vast selection of timepieces. It could be a problem if you want a watch to use for running and buy a dress watch with a leather band and no timer.

• Once you have decided what you need the watch for, it is important to figure out what you like. Continuing with the example above; if you want a running watch do you prefer digital or analog? Do you prefer stainless steel bands or rubber straps? Or, do you run at night and need a light?

• The next step is to decide your price range. There are brands of watches in every price range to fit every use and need. What I usually do is find a more expensive brand and then look at some of their less expensive models. That way I get a good and reliable watch. I also save a little money at the same time.

• I recommend going to a store and trying watches on and deciding which one you want. I like to put the watch on and get a sense of how it feels and fits on my wrist. Big watches are in style right now but sometimes they are too big for my wrist. While you are there you can check the prices.

• Then search online and check the prices for the watch you have chosen. Although you might have to wait for that great new watch, you will save some money by buying it on the on-line.

I have found that one watch will not meet all of my needs. I have several timepieces that serve different purposes. If you need one watch to serve more than one purpose, some compromises might need to be made.

casio timepiece - Why Every Man Should Own A High Quality Fine Watch

Generally men are not typically concerned about fashion. Although there are always exceptions to the rule, men usually let women pick their clothing. Even though you may not care much for fashion, there are some things you can do to demonstrate a sense of fashion.
A great item such as a fine watch should be a part of every man's wardrobe. A watch for a man can be a fashion statement in and of itself. A high end watch that is in good taste will add some tasteful flair to your wardrobe. Recently watches have returned as the new fashion statement for men. Men can express their personality through a choice of a good watch.
To find the right watch for you it is important to shop around a little. Searching online for a watch will help you to avoid the mall. By looking online you can also look for watches that allow you to express yourself without judgment.
Many men have owned a variety of cheaper watches throughout their lifetime, but until you find a high end watch you are merely toting a watch out of necessity. Timex is not necessarily a high end watch nor is Casio or any other watch with a plastic or cheap metal band. These are generally for everyday wear and sports activities. That is fine since they are intended for that.
If you are ready for a nice watch that will last and be a family heirloom someday then there are some names you may want to consider.
Some watch names to look for are TAG Heuer or even Rolex. Both are made of superb quality and style. Either watches brand is high end and bound to become a treasured family heirloom.
TAG Heuer has the Aqua racer collection. They are quart crystal watches which are very accurate and dependable. There are several to choose from and all equally beautiful timepieces.
Another popular and classic brand of watches is Rolex. They have been around for a long time and are often referred to as the king of all the watches. They are watches to pass down from generation to generation. The Cellini watch is simple in design but classy as ever.
Regardless of your idea on fashion, there is no reason you can't make a statement with a classy high end watch. The difference once you have one on your wrist may surprise you. Once you wear a beautiful watch you may never pull out the others again. The confidence you may feel from owning such a timepiece will help you feel more successful. A fine watch will be a timeless heirloom to pass on for generations to come.
